There are certain rules to be followed while using any airlines. Different airlines may have different rules. All items are not allowed to be carried as personal belongings and some items can be carried in limited basis.
Personal belongings are not permitted on consol by Turkish Airlines as well as El Al Israel Airlines
Personal effects require a passport number for flying with Emirates Sky Cargo along with consignee telephone number and a packing list.
In South African Airways, personal effects must be accompanied with a packing list.
In British Airways, Alcoholic Beverages under 70 % v/v are allowed but limited to only five liters for every passenger. British Airways allows containers that are opened only when they are closed or re-packed properly. Ammunition, gunpowder etc may be carried in the form of ammunition of small arms only for the purposes of sporting as an element of checked baggage, the amount of which should not increase 5 kgs or 11 lbs.
Animal Products or Products which are of animal origin, like cheese, sausages, ham etc. may be carried to EU destinations only; however, there are also some restrictions that need to be checked thoroughly. Cutting Instruments like metal knives, box cutters, metal tin openers, straight razors are permitted in checked baggage only. Defense Sprays like Mace, pepper sprays etc. are not allowed in British Airways flights. Firearms like handguns, shotguns etc. can be carried with restrictions only in baggage that have been checked. It is no longer accepted by American Airlines even in checked baggage for inbound or outbound travelers from the United Kingdom. The only exception is for military or government personnel carrying detailed documentation. Flammable solids or liquids like paints, fuel, torch lighters and gas torches, flammable glues or epoxies are strictly not allowed on board. So are household items like bleach, insecticides, spray starch, aerosols such as air fresheners as well as drain cleaners and its solvents, bathroom cleaners, oven cleaners etc.
Mobility devices such as electric wheelchairs having spill able batteries are to be transported following AA guidelines and this requires exclusion of the battery which is used for transporting. lithium-ion or spare lithium batteries of any kind are not permissible in case checked baggage. Lithium-ion , spare lithium, batteries for devices such as laptops, cameras and cell phones should be packed in carry-on baggage along with ensuring that the terminals are covered and insulated.
Airline notes of Cathay Pacific states that musical instruments may be carried as cabin or checked baggage but should be kept inside a protective hard case with rounded ends. Musical instruments in soft cases will not be accepted and the airline will not provide hard cases. Cathay Pacific also states that electronic devices that may cause interference like amateur transceivers, CB radios, transmitting or wireless-enabled devices such as Bluetooth and remote control devices, including toys are banned at all times on board.
